After many years of people caring about their looks, the beauty industry has boomed and produced all kinds of anti-aging skin care treatments. However, not everyone can afford expensive procedures or products so here are a few tips about how to take care of your skin without spending a lot of money. 

Use sunscreen!

Sun exposure damages our skin on a cellular level and causes dark spots, wrinkles, sagging skin, and more. It is more important than ever to wear sunscreen since more people are diagnosed with skin cancer every year. Apply it daily as directed by the instructions on the bottle.

Don’t pick or pop zits!

This might seem like common sense but those who do this have an increased risk for severe scars as well as infection from the bacteria in the dirt and oil found on your fingers after picking your skin.

Don’t fall asleep with makeup on!

Don’t squeeze blackheads!

Instead, use a warm compress with salicylic acid on area two to three times per day for at least 10 minutes. This will open up your pores so that you can gently push out your blackheads without having to cause yourself any pain.

Exfoliate once per week!

Take care of your skin by scrubbing off all of the dead cells that have built up on top of it, leaving behind brighter, newer-looking cells that will help keep fine lines away.

Use sunscreen on your eyes too!

Just like everywhere else on your face, exposure to the sun speeds up the aging process in this part of our body is more sensitive than other areas. Using an SPF on your eyelids can prevent wrinkles from forming.

Keep your lips moist!

To avoid the chapping that leads to fine lines around your mouth, use sunscreen or petroleum jelly on them every day before you leave the house.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and it needs to be checked regularly for cancerous or pre-cancerous cells. Most people only visit dermatologists when they have a problem but you should try to schedule an appointment at least once per year.

Try not to sweat too much!

This might seem like common sense, but excessive sweating can cause pores to be clogged which leads to acne breakouts or even just irritation. If this happens, use salicylic acid pads that you can find at any drugstore as well as witch hazel as a toner before applying some night cream on top of it all. Using these products often will help keep your pores clear so that this does not happen again.

Don’t pick scabs!
